About Dean

Keith first moved to Key West in the 1990’s, after graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Mississippi University for Women. Key West’s unique combination of tropical small-town life and generous cultural activities ignited his imagination. Among the island’s colorful characters and regal palms, Keith brought his dream of becoming a successful art dealer and gallery owner to fruition. Although career opportunities eventually took him away from his beloved island home, he made a commitment to come back to Key West once he made his entrepreneurial dreams come true. In 2010, Keith joyfully returned to Key West. After teaming up with veteran real estate agent Dean Townsend in life, the two made the decision to team up as Realtors® in 2013. With the creation of The Townsend Team, a dynamic real estate partnership was born. Decades spent selling one-of-a-kind artistic treasures, proved to be a fertile training ground for selling Key West’s real estate gems. Keith consistently attends to the smallest detail, offers superior customer service and builds lasting relationships. Mastering the art of matching buyers with their dream homes is Keith’s primary focus. Experience, Creativity, Knowledge: qualities that make Keith Miller and Dean Townsend, The Townsend Team, your Realtors® of choice.

We have been captivated by the serene tranquility of our new listing at 17176 Bonita Lane West on Sugarloaf Key. We often find ourselves longing for a quiet corner of paradise. Nestled on a peaceful Sugarloaf lane—just seventeen miles from Duval Street—the Zen-like atmosphere of this enchanting waterfront home is calling our names.

813 Frances Street, Key West, Florida—SOLD $782,100.

We love living across the street from the historic Key West Cemetery. With as many as 100,000 souls buried there, and only 30,000 residents currently living on the island, the number of the dead far surpasses the living. When friends ask if we are bothered by our close proximity to the cemetery, we tell them that our neighbors could not be easier to get along with and that the unimpeded vista from our front porch is a rare and desirable find in Old Town. Unless we happen to be around for the zombie apocalypse, we have more to fear from the living.

We love 813 Frances Street's classic Key West front porch.

An art collector's dream.

An art collector’s dream.

Key West’s historic homes were built to stay as cool as possible during our long tropical summers. Designed with lots of windows to capture cooling ocean breezes, the island’s homes are typically short on wall space—presenting a real challenge for art collectors like us. The spacious 2,560 square foot home, at 1315 Eliza Street in Old Town, is an art lover’s dream. Bathed in natural light while featuring plentiful wall space for displaying art, the home breaks the typical Key West mold. We would go crazy—and most likely broke—filling the inviting walls with one-of-a-kind treasures.
